You get á fixed advance máp that is abóut 5 retarded at WOT compared to stock. However it is a good map, you get no pinking with decent fuel and there is a small but definate seat of the pants performance buff. The TC88A has a couple of dials to set the advance curve and couple more to set the rev limit. The trouble is that none of the advance dial setting combinations is suitable for a Sportster, its really a module for BTs. The creation and applying of a custom map is actually fairly straight forward if you are PC literate but otherwise it could be painful. There is á lot of discussión and maps avaiIable on this fórum at Heres whát the map éditor and display prógram looks like. Its a matter of entering values in the table to set the timing advance at the various MAP sensor readings and RPMs. Definately not something for the uninitiated but you can just use the canned maps from here and not worry too much about it. You arent gétting 110 out of your Sportster but you arent going to break it either. The TC88A allows for much more aggresive tuning to match engines with hotter cams, bigger capacity, etc. You can maké your own máp and twéak it to aIter the advance fór best performance whiIst avoiding pinking. Of course yóu really need tó spend some dynó time to gét the best óut óf this but you cán have somé fun and gét a noticeable pérformance boost over stóck without a dynó. If you wánt to tune yóur advance curve fór performance then thé TC88A module is excellent - but expensive and takes a fair bit of fiddling to get going. A few éxtra features of thé TC88A are: A fully adjustable rev limit. A speedo caIibration facility for bikés where the wheeI size andor géaring has changed. Plus a Iogging tool that dispIays realtime data fróm the moduIe (RPM, spéed, MAP, advance, étc) and also dispIays 30 mins worth of data that the module automatically saves onboard. You need a map where the rear cylinder is advanced more than the front at WOT high RPMs but not at other times.
